HDPE PIPES

BUILTEC HDPE PIPES & FITTINGS

Builtec HDPE pipe is designed for use in municipal and industrial applications and provides a safe, corrosion-free piping system for transporting potable water, other fluids, and gases. HDPE pipes are a reliable, cost-effective piping system with a long service life and a wide range of applications.
Builtec HDPE pipe is made from high-quality raw materials, ensuring long-term performance and durability.

HDPE is ideal for:

  • water supply, gas distribution, and sewerage systems
  • fire water mains
  • irrigation systems
  • mining operations
  • industrial process pipelines

Chemical Resistance:
Builtec HDPE pipe is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, making it ideal for the conveyance of industrial fluids and waste.

Flexibility:
The flexibility of HDPE pipe allows for bending and reduces the need for fittings, resulting in lower installation costs.

Leak-Free Joints:
Heat fusion creates joints that are as strong as the pipe itself, eliminating potential leak points.

Abrasion Resistance:
HDPE pipe’s excellent abrasion resistance makes it suitable for slurry and other abrasive applications.

Durability:
Builtec HDPE pipe can withstand harsh environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and UV exposure.

Ease of Installation:
Lightweight and easy to handle, HDPE pipe reduces installation time and labor costs.

Versatility:
HDPE pipe is available in a wide range of sizes, lengths, and pressure ratings, with a variety of fittings to suit every need.

Ultraviolet Stabilized Resistance:
In the absence of any physical and chemical protection from UV radiation by opaque overwrap or enclosure, HDPE’s UV resistance is ensured by incorporation of carbon black in the formulation. Thanks to ultraviolet stabilization, black HDPE piping systems are protected from the damaging effects of UV radiation.

Field Joining:
HDPE pipes can be joined using several methods:

  • butt fusion
  • electrofusion
  • socket fusion
  • mechanical fittings

Long-Term Service:
HDPE pipe offers a service life of over 50 years under normal operating conditions, making it a long-lasting solution for many applications.

Sizes Available:
Builtec HDPE pipes are available in 20 to 1600mm (up to 64 inches) in various pressure classes.

Thermal Conductivity

The thermal conductivity of a Polyethylene pipe is less efficient than its copper counterpart in comparison to heat transfer efficiency. However, it offers a physical advantage for pipeline laying in soils.
Thermal conductivity of HDPE = 0.41–0.52 W/m K (depending on compound grade).

Low Friction Loss

Due to smooth internal surface, HDPE pipe has much lower frictional loss than conventional pipes (as illustrated below for water at 20°C):
